Regina Mitchell, Immediate Past Chair

Regina M. Mitchell, MHA, FACHE, native of Memphis, Tennessee, has served as Chief Executive Officer of New Horizon Family Health Services, Inc. since May 1998.  From 1990-1998, she served as Vice President of Operations, Chief Operating Officer, Deputy Director, Maternal & Child Resources Director, and Perinatal Coordinator at Family Health Centers in Orangeburg.  Her professional experience also includes Babcock Center in Columbia and Department of Social Services in Sumter County, SC.

Ms. Mitchell received her B.A. and MHA (Master of Health Services Administration) degrees from the University of South Carolina, where she was on the National Dean's List, listed in Who's Who Among American College Students, and a semi-finalist in the National Scholarship Program.  Ms. Mitchell graduated Magna Cum Laude and completed Graduate studies with a 3.8 GPA while maintaining full-time employment.  She has also achieved the designation of Fellow, Board Certified Executive (FACHE) in health care management through the American College of Healthcare Executives in Chicago, Illinois.

Her many activities, affiliations and honors include: vice president, South Carolina Primary Health Care Association (SCPHCA) 2011-2012; Greenville Technical College Community Unsung Hero Award Recipient 2010; president, SCPHCA 2005-2007; member National Association of Community Health Centers; member Mu Chapter Delta Omega Society; volunteer with South Carolina Department of Corrections Work Release Program and Palmetto AIDS Life Support Services; United Way of Greenville County Board of Trustees 2004; Executive Committee, Greenville Community Health Alliance; board member, Building A Healthy Community Impact Council.  In 1994, Ms. Mitchell received the Margaret J. Weston Award for Outstanding Achievement in Health Care Delivery and Family Health Centers' Administrative Employee of the Year.
